These are my first pole shoes and I think it is a perfect way to start. I tried boots out, but they were too tight on my toes, even when sizing up. I found the sandals pretty easy to walk with - make sure you get the plastic or jelly straps, they are thicker than the pattent leather ones and give more stability on your ankle. There is definitely a learning curve, but I am starting to get the hang of dancing in them.
They are very comfortable and really warm up to the shape of the foot. My feet are on the wider side, but I wouldn't advise sizing up. I bought both my true size and the size up and I was able to stretch my true size to fit perfectly, ending up returning the other size (very easy return process). Just use a blow dryer and thick socks and let them cool down while you are wearing them. I also used mine with socks the first time, but now they are perfect!
They do show wear pretty quickly. I wore them 3/4 times and I already see wear (the photo was after my first training session) - I don't mind it, but it might be something to keep in mind. Maybe the clear bottoms will show less wear. The plastic tops also get quite dirty, so I would recommend wiping the inside after every use.
Sorry for the long review, but I would have liked a very detailed review before I bought mine. I hope this was hopeful.
